 About Alim Nastaev
I was born July 25 in Nalchik, Kabardino-Balkaria, Russia.
From childhood I expressed an interest in music and in the guitar particularly, but was engaged in sports professionally as a soccer player. I played for the USSR junior combined team and for some major league teams of Russia. At the age of 22 I got some serious trauma and quit the sports.
After that I decided to devote myself to music. Having been interested in Blues-Rock style at first, I was captured by the Jazz with all its varieties later on. As a result of this I decided to enter a music institute.
In 2001 I entered the 'Rostov-on-Don State Rachmaninov Conservatory' at the Jazz department.
In 2003 I won a first prize at the Fifth All-Russian Jazz Competition which takes place once in three years.
I received the 3rd prize as a member of a trio band at the International Competition 'Dodj-2003' Donetsk, Ukraine.
In 2004 I participated in First International Instrumental Guitarists Festival in Moscow.
In May 2005 I won the Grand Prix of the International Competition 'Many-sided Guitar' nominating in Blues, Jazz, Rock and Classic.
I spend a lot of time working in different studios as a session musician with dance, pop, rock, alternative and metal projects .
In May 2006 I’m successfully graduating from the Conservatory.
In July 2006, I have been selected for the Montreux Jazz Festival - Gibson Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition's in Switzerland.
It is fantastic vital and musical experience for me !!!
In September, 2006 I entered BerkleeMusic Online Extension School (Specialist Recording and Production For Guitar With Pro Tools Certificate Program, also, Style Writing for Performers and Arrangers Program).
Now, I finish work on my debut album... It will be jazz... :)
